Large handle vase, Cyprus decor, Josephinenhütte around 1881-84

Large handle vase made of colorless thick-walled glass, freely shaped and iridescent under steam, bulbous body with recessed neck and widened mouth, handles attached to the sides, walls with a fine metal oxide coating. Underside of the floor with a dislocated tear. Shell is in intact condition. Count Schaffgotsch'sche Josephinenhütte around 1881-1884, series of Cyprus glasses. Early formation of Cyprus glasses after excavations in Pompeii, which were only made with thin metal coatings and thick-walled glass. Height: approx. 12.5 cm, diameter. approx. 23.5 cm.
