Inscribed above the stand on the wall with an engraved oriental signature: Galle Etude. Polished base with dislocated and matted demolition. Emile Galle, Nancy around 1900. Height: approx. 58.5 cm, diameter at bottom: 18.5 cm, diameter at top: approx. 13.0 cm. Lit: Pieces marked "Etude" are inlaid pieces that suffered some form of damage during the delicate manufacturing process. When Emile Galle determined that this piece was important and artistic enough, he marked it as an "Etude" and the vase was sold with the faults.
