Glashütte: Bohemia

Cylindrical beaker of colorless, mold-blown glass; the lower section of the cylindrical wall features ribbing that terminates in rounded ends above a domed base, with each rib incorporating a polished concave facet (acting as a reducing lens); the remaining wall surface displays a monogram in script surrounded by finely engraved floral ornamentation, while the opposite side depicts allegories of Faith, Hope, and Charity beneath a rising sun; below the finished rim runs a border of contiguous semicircles featuring vertical notches (a detail demonstrating the artist's consummate skill). The glass fluoresces strongly under UV light. The beaker is intact but shows significant signs of wear on the base (scuffing from sliding). Bohemia, circa 1830–40. Height: approx. 13.5 cm; diameter: approx. 7.7 cm. Ref.: Similar cut-glass designs were also produced by Hieronymus Hackel.
