Bowl with moth in Pate de Verre, signed, G. Despret c. 1905

Art Nouveau bowl, pâte de verre in light blue, rose and colorless, hexagonal body with depiction of a moth melted in a sand mold. Underside with diamond-carved signature "Despret". Shell is in the healing state. Georges Despret, Compagnies Reunies de Glaces et verres Speciaux du Nord de la France / Belgium around 1905, Georges Despret takes over the Glacerie de Jeumont company after the death of his uncle Hector Despret in 1884. For the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris, small bowls were created using the monochrome or polychrome pâte de verre technique for the first time. Height: approx. 4.0 cm. Diameter: approx. 12.5 cm.
