Glashütte: John Moncrieff

Large vase made of colorless glass with yellow, red-brown powder melts running in vertical streaks, bulbous vessel body with a high cylindrical neck. Fused muzzle edge, base with dislocated tear and strong traces of sliding. Vase is in intact condition. Execution: John Moncrieff Ltd., North British Glassworks, Perth, Scotland, so-called Monart glass, design by Salvador Ysart, 1925-30. Height: approx. 31.0 cm. Lit: John Moncrieff founded the North British Glass Works in Perth, Scotland in 1885. In 1922, Salvador Ysart, who had previously gained experience as a glassmaker in France, including at the Schneider company near Paris, joined the company with his son Paul Ysart. From 1924 onwards he developed art glasses with a limited edition of 50 pieces, which came onto the market under the name Monart Ware / Moncrieff artglass.
