Very large and heavy crater vase with gilded mount and colorless crystal glass. Square base in yellow cast iron with decorative band, above a base of cut-decorated crystal glass, fluted shaft with top bowl, large, attached vase body with stepped round base, slightly conical body with drawn-in neck with curved facets, body with hatched stone and oval cut fields, polished vase rim, attachable finial with egg-and-dish decoration and sculptural decorative elements on the side. Portal vase is in undamaged condition, with minor age-related damage to the stepped and concealed round base. The vase consists of three parts: the base, vase body, and attachable finial. France, last three-thirds of the 19th century. Height: approx. 74.5 cm, diameter: approx. 31.0 cm.
