Lit: Milan Vobruba, born in 1934 in Tremosnice in southeast Bohemia, then part of Czechoslovakia.

From 1949 to 1951 he studied at the glass industry school in Novy Bor and the art school in Železný Brod, under the direction of Professor Stanislav Libensky.

1957-62 continued his studies at the Prague Academy of Applied Arts under the direction of Professor Josef Stipl and the Faculty of Philosophy, Charles University Prague, Czech Republic.

1962-68 worked as a designer and technologist for Bohemian crystal at the glassworks in Lenora.

1968 emigrated to Sweden and worked as a designer at Reijmyre Glasbruk.

1970-78 worked as a freelance artist and opened his own glass studio in Gusum, Östergötland in 1978.
1981 received an honorary mention - Artist of the Year and in 1982, Östergötland's Annual Artist award.

Milan Vobruba invented his own technology for surface treatment of taxi glass.
Since the technique is reminiscent of antique glass, it was called "ALEPPO". The technique is characteristic for its special structure and iridescent effect.
The first production was started in 1969 at the Reijmyre glassworks.
Since 1978, Aleppo's production continued in its own glass studio in Gusum, Valdemarsvik municipality, Östergötland.
