Product Details

Fully three-dimensional bronze sculpture of the Faun of Praxiteles, based on a copy from the Capitoline Museum. It depicts the resting satyr, recognizable by his pointed ears and the panther skin draped across his torso. He rests his right elbow on a tree stump. The rectangular plinth is inscribed: F. Barbedienne Fondeur and with the medal "Reduction Mecanique A. Collas Brevete". Produced by the foundry of Ferdinand Barbedienne in Paris and Achille Collas, who invented the reduction machine in 1836. 2nd half of the 19th century. Height: approx. 39.5 cm, Diameter: approx. 14.5 cm, Weight: approx. 5.0 kg. The bronze figure is in good condition with age-related signs of wear, see photos.
